Tubular anchoring - Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport

The connections between the tubular members are modeled as pinned, allowing rotation while transferring axial forces. This simplifies force distribution and reflects the intended structural behavior. Pin modeling ensures realistic stiffness and load paths in global analysis.

This connection integrates steel pins into the node assembly to ensure accurate alignment and internal force transfer between tubular members. Load transfer into the concrete foundation is achieved via cast-in anchors with headed studs, designed per ACI 318 and anchored following AISC 360-22 provisions. The connection was modeled using IDEA StatiCa Connection, with all welds, bearing surfaces, and anchor components evaluated per AISC 360 and AISC code.

The pins are modelled as bolts in IDEA StatiCa Connection for AISC code.

This connection has been replicated in the IDEA StatiCa Connection to showcase its capabilities. However, IDEA StatiCa has not been used in a real project.
