We are proud to present improvements to IDEA StatiCa version 9.1. We did our best to choose the most impactful improvements from the huge amount of feedback and requests we received from you.

Highlights

For years, we have been researching new ways how to reinforce and code-check concrete details of all topologies and loading. In 2016, we partnered up with one of the top technical universities worldwide – ETH Zurich – to create IDEA StatiCa Detail. This release brings the next version of this revolutionary tool and materializes our work on a unique solver, material models, GUI, and output report.

Version 9.1 allows you to design and code-check not only beam and wall details but also frame joints. A new presentation of results was implemented for all the topologies. There is a new type of anchoring – perfect bond. IDEA StatiCa Detail can now provide full code-check not just for Eurocode but also for ACI. Together with ETH, we are releasing several verification studies on the safety and reliability of IDEA StatiCa Detail. To explain assumptions and methods used in IDEA StatiCa Detail, we have created a document called Theoretical Background which allows engineers to get a full understanding of this new approach to design concrete details.

Frame joints

Frame joints are one of the most used type of detail (discontinuity region) in concrete structures. It comes with several templates to ease the input of geometry and loads.

There are many possibilities of 2D frame joints now. Adding left of right beams just on one click, haunches, inclinations, openings and many more features are implemented, just try them on your own.

As an addition, we used frame joint templates to cover also brackets (corbels) models and that is why we can find them under this type of detail in the wizard. The advantage of such an approach is the interaction of column internal forces with the load effects on the bracket. As mentioned before, making a one-sided or double-sided bracket is just a matter of one click.

ACI (American Concrete Institute)

The new release is bringing up the check of the concrete details according to American code with predefined materials according to American standards.

Perfect bond

A new anchoring type of reinforcement brings a possibility to cut off the reinforcement with the cover and ensure the perfect bond between both materials. Due to this fact is realized lesser anchoring length which secures the transferring of the anchoring force at the beginning and at the end of the rebar.

Improvements in UI

The new legend for summary overview brings more user-friendly utilization of stress in the concrete, tensions and bond stresses in the rebars.

The legends for utilization of crack width and stress limitations acquired new face with three colors where the green one is showing the utilization to 90%, yellow one from 90 to 100 % and the red one above 100%. The drawing of the utilization around the rebars reached a more user-friendly face. The intensity of the color around the length of the rebar shows the crack width size.
