Anchoring of a circular column
The attached sample project of a circular column anchoring was inspired by a real project, where the engineer needed to verify an existing footing with pedestal for additional loading.
The main goal was to make sure the structure can withstand the higher loads and still fulfill all code-requirements. The concrete block has a stepped square shape, while the base plate is circular, making a possible hand calculation extremely difficult.
The advanced solution combining IDEA StatiCa Connection and Detail, powered by 3D CSFM proved to be an efficient solution, resulting in satisfactory code-checks. The existing reinforcement could be used to transfer the newly arising forces, so the structure did not need to be strengthened – all while maintaining full code compliance.
