This NCSEA webinar sponsored by IDEA StatiCa featured three real-world connection design scenarios including substation A-frames, pipe racks, and anchored pipe supports. We used case studies to highlight solutions for common HSS connection challenges.
Steel connections for industrial structures
Designing reliable HSS connections can be challenging, particularly in infrastructure and industrial structures. In this webinar, we presented three case studies covering substation and transmission structures, pipe racks, and pipe support structures.
The session explores challenges such as:
- Complex 3D HSS joints with atypical geometry and torsion
- Tight spacing and repetitive connections in pipe racks
- Custom base plates and unconventional anchor layouts in pipe supports.
Many of these connections do not easily fit traditional methods outlined by AISC, so we walk attendees through three case studies and show them easy solutions. Get a preview in this case study and view the webinar to see live solutions, questions, and learn more.
