Topology optimization is one of IDEA StatiCa Detail features which helps you with the design and alignment of reinforcement in concrete structures.

Topology optimization is a perfect tool for models with complex geometry, non-standard loading, or unusual placement of the element in the whole structure.

The result of this calculation is a topology of compression fields and areas in tension. Based on the calculation result, you can decide where and how to modify reinforcement in your model.

The topology optimization calculation included in our innovative CSFM (Compatible stress field method) uses an effective volume of the structure (20%, 40%, 60% or 80%), and in several iterations, places this volume in a way so the created topology is the stiffest possible.
